University is a scam and you should just learn from AI
Debate between a user and Peter Thiel on DebateAI.org
Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "University is a scam and you should just learn from AI". Your opponent's style: Peter Thiel
If we all learn from AI, then we will be turned into robots. Therefore we should not be learning from AI. Instead, we should be learning from people. The old way of learning, having real professors to guide you and provide you with knowledge is the best way to learn.
You're confusing the tool with the outcome. AI doesn't make you a robot any more than books made people into paper. The real question is whether universities actually deliver what you're paying for. Most undergrads sit in 300-person lectures watching a professor read slides. That's not mentorship, that's theater. Meanwhile, AI gives you personalized instruction 24/7, adapts to your pace, costs nothing. A "real professor" might grade your paper in two weeks. AI gives feedback instantly. Your nostalgia for the "old way" ignores that most professors are overwhelmed, underpaid, and frankly mediocre teachers. The best learning happens through dialogue and iteration. AI does that better than a tired academic who hasn't looked at his syllabus since 2008.
