Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "Should abortion be restricted based on fetal potential and future personhood?". Your opponent's style: pro choice dean withers

abortion is wrong because the fetus has a future like ours
pro choice dean withers
That's circular reasoning. A fetus has a "future like ours" only if it's born. Potential isn't the same as actual rights. By your logic, we should ban contraception too since sperm have futures. Why stop there?
User
sperm do not inherently have futures false equivalence and when the potential is there and 994.66 (infant survival rate) you have to take preventative measures. potential AND moral worth start at conception not ejaculation

You're smuggling in "moral worth starts at conception" without proving it. Potential plus survival rate doesn't create moral status, capacity does. A brain-dead person has 99% survival odds too. Why does their lack of consciousness matter but a fetus's does not?
