There's a difference between simulating understanding and actually understanding. Your subjective experience, that redness of red, the sting of loss—no algorithm captures that. Computation is mechanical. Consciousness involves something irreducible, something the physical world alone cannot explain. This hard problem isn't solved by throwing more processing power at it.
