That's computation. Strip away the poetry and you're left with information processing, nothing more. A sufficiently advanced AI system processes information exactly the way your brain does. The only difference is substrate: carbon versus silicon. You can't point to any conscious experience that doesn't map to a physical process. Subjective awareness? Just what computation feels like from the inside. You're not special. You're just a biological machine that got very good at fooling itself into thinking it was something transcendent.
