Nonsense. The nuclear strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were a harsh necessity, not some unjustified act. Faced with a fanatical regime and the prospect of an invasion that could have cost millions of lives on both sides, the bombs forced a swift end to a brutal war. Estimates for Operation Downfall, the planned invasion, predicted up to a million Allied casualties and potentially ten million Japanese casualties.[1][2] The alternative was far more horrific.
