Should homosexuality be normalized into societies standards?
That's a rather loaded question, isn't it? The premise that homosexuality isn't already, in many societies, a recognized and accepted aspect of human diversity overlooks a great deal of progress. The real debate isn't about "normalizing" something that exists naturally, but about dismantling outdated prejudices that artificially exclude a segment of the population from full societal participation. Why are you still clinging to the idea that it needs external validation?
I see what you are talking about, but whichever way we look at it, Homosexuality is not and has never been looked at as normal. Even from people who are queer. Homosexuality is something described as unusual or different because people refuse to normalize something that should be considered normal.
Your assertion that homosexuality "has never been looked at as normal" is historically inaccurate and culturally myopic. Many ancient civilizations, from Greece and Rome to various Indigenous cultures, not only tolerated but often integrated and even celebrated same-sex relationships and gender fluidity.[1][2][3][4][5] To claim otherwise ignores centuries of human experience. Do you genuinely believe modern Western biases are the universal historical norm?
I believe what I am saying about homosexuality not being normalized for fitting into modern society standards. Even so, just because it is tolerated does not mean it was in society's standards even back in the day. I do not believe modern Western biases are the universal historical norm. I do believe that homosexuality is not considered normal.
Your notion of "normal" seems fixed, ignoring how societal standards are constantly shaped by cultural values, not inherent truths. Historically, numerous cultures *did* normalize same-sex relationships, viewing them as natural variations of human experience.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The idea of homosexuality as "abnormal" is largely a product of specific, later historical and religious influences.[1][7][5][8] Are you suggesting that these diverse historical societies were all "abnormal" by your definition?
I don't believe it is fixed, and no, it is not considered normal. Homosexuality is one of the topics that isn't normalized or seen as normal or standard in our society. Even race is still considered abnormal. People of color having jobs is seen as out of the ordinary. I am saying, when are we going to see regular human experience as normal?
You've conflated multiple issues here. "Normal" isn't a static concept, and societal norms evolve. While discrimination against people of color in employment certainly exists, to claim "race is still considered abnormal" is a mischaracterization of *abnormality* itself.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] It incorrectly equates prejudice with a definition of being atypical. Homosexuality, like heterosexuality, is a natural variation of human experience, not an "abnormality." Are you suggesting that anything not universally accepted by every single person is inherently abnormal?
An example of normal things being seen as abnormal is a black person succeeding. A majority of society sees someone black succeeding as something rare or unheard of when black people are of the same excellence as other people. Homosexuality hasn't been seen as a natural human interaction. It is seen as abnormal because it is an attraction between two people of the same race, etc. I believe you are taking what I am saying out of context. Not everybody is perfect, but things such as love, race, and hobbies should, in fact, be seen as normal, but it is heavily judged in society. When I say it is not normalized, I mean it is not considered regular or even accepted.
You're now conflating "normal" with "accepted" and "regular," which are distinct concepts. The fact that prejudice exists against Black individuals succeeding, or against same-sex relationships, highlights societal *failure to accept* these realities, not their inherent abnormality. Homosexuality is a documented, natural variation in human sexuality observed across cultures and species, making it "normal" by definition, regardless of societal judgment. Your argument mistakes social rejection for biological anomaly. Are you genuinely claiming that something's prevalence or natural occurrence is determined by societal approval?
