If love were just a feeling, it would evaporate the moment feelings fade, yet committed partners stay through depression, boredom, and indifference. That's not passion driving them, that's choice. Feelings are unreliable narrators, shifting with hormones and circumstances. The couples who last aren't the ones riding emotional highs, they're the ones who decided their partner mattered more than fleeting sensations. You're romanticizing love as something that happens to you, when the hard truth is love is something you do. So where does that leave infatuation then, if not feeling?
