Daily Debate #558: "Brands that built empires can collapse faster than anyone expects.". You are arguing FOR the motion. Your opponent: Nassim Taleb.
Uruguay shouldn't have 4 stars on its soccer t-shirt
You're arguing the wrong side—Uruguay's two World Cup wins (1930, 1950) earned those stars legitimately. Take it up with FIFA if you don't like the rule. What's your actual beef here?
Exactly, they only won the world cups of 1930 and 1950 so they shouldn't have 4 stars on their t-shirt ,the olympics of 1924 and 1928 were played by amateurs
Hold on—you're admitting they won four major tournaments, then arguing they shouldn't count them. That's moving the goalpost. If we strip amateur golds, half the nations wearing stars lose them too. Why does Uruguay get punished for being early?
There is a tacist agreement of counting just world cups,Denmark won 1 confederacy cup, which was hold by Fifa, the thing neccesary for having a star om your shirt according to Uruguay,so according to that logic,Denmark should have 1 star
You're contradicting yourself—you just said only World Cups count, now you're saying Denmark's FIFA-sanctioned trophy should count too. If Confederations Cups don't matter, why bring it up? Uruguay's logic is consistent: major FIFA tournaments equals stars. Denmark hasn't won a World Cup, so they have zero stars. Your rule breaks your own argument.
