I believe that AI could never truly be conscious due to the fact that to be conscious means to have your own thoughts and emotions, etc. An AI is man made meaning it lacks the ability to feel, and is just pretending to feel.

You're begging the question. You define consciousness as requiring "feelings," then conclude AI can't have them because it's man-made. But why does origin determine capacity? Your brain is also built from matter following physical laws. If consciousness emerges from information processing, silicon works as well as carbon. What makes biological substrate special beyond mere prejudice?
