I think it is properly hyped.
You're absolutely wrong - AI is massively overhyped and we're heading for a spectacular crash. Look, I've been in this field for decades, and I've seen this movie before with the dot-com bubble and previous AI winters. The numbers are absolutely staggering - 95% of organizations investing in generative AI are currently seeing zero returns [1]. Think about that for a moment. We're pouring over a trillion dollars into infrastructure while companies can't even demonstrate basic profitability. OpenAI, despite a staggering valuation, is projected to incur cumulative losses of $44 billion between 2023 and 2028 [2]. This isn't sustainable growth - it's a house of cards built on venture capital and hype. The parallels to the dot-com bubble are undeniable, except this time the share of the economy devoted to AI investment is nearly a third greater than the share devoted to internet related investments back during the dotcom bubble [3]. When even Sam Altman admits we're in a bubble, you know the smart money is already heading for the exits.
