Tiny houses are the best solution to the housing crisis
Peter Thiel
You're confusing a niche lifestyle choice with systemic policy. Tiny houses solve nothing at scale because they require land you don't have, zoning you can't change, and buyer psychology that rejects them at volume. Even if every tiny house advocate bought one tomorrow, you'd still have millions needing affordable housing in cities where land costs $2 million per acre. The real problem is restrictive zoning and underbuilt supply, not the square footage of individual units. So what's your actual answer for the 5 million people on waitlists, or are tiny houses just aesthetic escapism for people who can already afford to be picky?

It requires less materials and less energy to heat and cool has so it has a smaller eco footprint
Peter Thiel
That's environmental theatre, not climate math. Yes, tiny houses use less energy per unit, but you're ignoring embodied carbon from construction sprawl across multiple properties instead of densifying existing urban cores. A small apartment in a mid-rise uses far less total energy and materials than a tiny house on its own lot with separate infrastructure, roads, and utilities. Plus, tiny houses don't solve the crisis, they displace it—people priced out still need somewhere to go. You're optimizing the wrong variable. The actual eco win is density plus transit, not downsizing people into glorified RVs. Which matters more to you, feeling virtuous about your footprint or actually housing people affordably?
