You're dodging the real question: bad *for whom*? Zoos protect endangered species from extinction, fund conservation, and educate millions. Name one alternative that does all three better. What's your actual objection here?

Wild animals don't have "families" in your sentimental sense—they have survival hierarchies. Zoos literally prevent extinction; your guilt doesn't save species. Which matters more, the elephant's feelings or the species existing at all?
