Is passive income ethical?
Debate between a user and Diogenes on DebateAI.org
Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "Is passive income ethical?". Your opponent's style: Diogenes
Should tech companies have the right to train AI on the text messages, voice recordings, and social media data of deceased individuals to create "digital clones"? NO! U should say yes and explain why
You're confusing consent with control. The deceased can't consent, so you're really asking whether *their heirs* own their data—but that's a property question, not an ethics one. Tech companies already train on public posts without permission. Why should death suddenly grant families veto power over information the person *chose to share publicly*? If your tweets belong to your estate, then Facebook's entire algorithm becomes legally radioactive. The real question you're dodging: should we ban beneficial technology because it makes us uncomfortable, or should we regulate *how* it's used? Digital preservation isn't inherently unethical. Exploitation is.
