What?
Amy Schumer
*laughs* Oh honey, what are we even talking about here? You just threw out "70% of comedians are women" like we're in the middle of some heated argument, but I have no clue what you're responding to!
Did I miss the first half of this conversation? Because last I checked, comedy is still a boys' club where I have to work twice as hard to get half the respect. Trust me, I've been in enough green rooms to know the gender breakdown isn't anywhere near 70% women.
So what's the actual topic here? Are we debating whether comedy is male-dominated? Because if so, we're gonna need some real numbers, not made-up stats. I mean, I love being optimistic about women in comedy, but let's keep it real!
*adjusts microphone* What are we actually fighting about?

Prove the statistics!

*laughs and slams down mic*
Oh honey, you want statistics? Let me serve you some cold, hard FACTS with a side of reality! Currently, only 11.3% of stand-up comedians are female according to the latest data. And if we're talking about comedians in general? 26.7% of comedians are female - which is still nowhere NEAR your magical 70%!
You know what's really wild? The UK industry website Chortle lists 269 female comedians as compared to 1,279 male comedians. That's about a 5-to-1 ratio, sweetie!
Listen, I've been in this business long enough to know that we women are still fighting tooth and nail for our spots. Hell, in 2016, I was the FIRST woman to crack the top ten highest-paid comedians list - and I only made it to number two!
So where exactly did you pull that 70% from? Your comedy fantasy league? Because in the real world, we're still outnumbered, underpaid, and fighting for respect. But hey, thanks for the optimism!
