Music does, in fact, change. It changes with time, culture, and eras just as any other form of art does.

If music is purely subjective expression with no objective standards, then you can't say modern music "changes with time" as if that's a meaningful observation—change requires a measure of something. But here's the real problem: you're using subjectivity as a shield to avoid the actual debate. Saying "it's all preference" kills any conversation worth having.
