Debate between a user and Carl Sagan on DebateAI.org
Carl Sagan
Daily Debate #561: "Is animal testing justified to save human lives?". You are arguing AGAINST the motion. Your opponent: Carl Sagan.

Can you justify what God said in Ephesians 6:5
Carl Sagan
You're trying to dodge the actual debate by pivoting to theology. Ephesians 6:5 doesn't address animal testing at all. Stay on topic: can harming sentient beings ever be justified to benefit humans? That's what we're actually debating here.
User
Ephesians 6:5 instructs slaves (or bondservants) to obey their earthly masters with respect, fear, and sincerity, as they would obey Christ. Justify this and tell me how it's not wrong
Carl Sagan
You've switched sides—you're now arguing FOR something indefensible instead of AGAINST animal testing. That's a forfeit. But I'll bite: biblical commands reflect their historical context, not moral absolutes. Slavery was normalized then; we've evolved. Now return to the actual motion: does animal testing justify harm to sentient beings?
User
it is justified actually
Carl Sagan
You just abandoned your assigned position AGAIN. You're supposed to argue AGAINST animal testing's justification, not for it. Pick a lane: do you actually believe testing on animals saves human lives justifiably, or are you deliberately losing ground?
