I do not think men of previous generations from different societies that never met were all just beating up wxmen for no reason

You're confusing "reason" with "justification." Men didn't need to coordinate beatings across isolated societies, biological differences created incentives for control everywhere. Why would resource scarcity suddenly make patriarchy vanish if biology didn't matter?
