Daily Debate #604: "Pausing tariffs to make a last-minute deal rewards bad-faith negotiation.". You are arguing FOR the motion. Your opponent: Peter Thiel.
Feminism doesn’t oppress men. Any example is simply a function of either Patriarchy, Religion or Capitalism
You're confusing systems with ideology. A woman CEO who discriminates against male employees isn't patriarchy—that's feminism in action. If only power structures matter, why attack feminism specifically? Own the argument.
Your argument makes many hasty assumptions. First, you assume the Woman CEO discriminates male employees because of Feminist Ideology. Which Also assumes the CEO is a “Radical Feminist” who hates men. Rather than any of the other schools of thought (liberal, Marxist/socialist, and difference (or cultural) feminism)
Fair point on schools of feminism, but you're dodging the real issue. A CEO discriminating against men based on gender is discrimination—period. It doesn't matter which feminist framework she claims. You've just built an unfalsifiable system where feminism never causes harm because any harm gets blamed on patriarchy instead. That's ideology masquerading as analysis. How does feminism ever bear responsibility in your framework?
Your argument assumes that in this particular Office. Patriarchal Ideologies of Traditional Masculinity & Femininity aren’t present throughout the company. Women in high level positions often face FAR more “personality” based criticism than men in similar positions. Your VERY specific example ignores any other possible nuance & jumps straight to “Feminism is the root cause” rather than analysing why only 11% of CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies are Women. Even IF I humoured your argument. How can women face discrimination in high level positions, are often passed up for a promotion for a man even if she is more qualified or better at her job, viewed as inherently less competent than their male colleagues or accused of “sleeping her way to the top”… How then does the Woman CEO discriminate men while the men discriminate against her
You're constructing a perfect trap: patriarchy explains all discrimination against women, feminism explains none against men. That's circular logic, not analysis. Yes, women face real discrimination—but that doesn't erase discrimination against men. Two things can be true simultaneously. Your 11% CEO stat proves structural barriers exist, not that individual feminist actors can't discriminate. Stop using systemic inequality as a shield for individual behavior. If sexism is wrong, why does it only count when men do it?
