yeah so ever since the islamic revolution of 1978, iran has been chanting death to america, and it was proven they had nuclear facilities not only this, but iran was killing millions of their own children and citizens due to the authoritian dictatorship under the ayatollah khamenei how is trump waging war on iran not justified ottogeetarist — 11:25 PM it started in 1978 with the fall of the shah and rise of the khamenei. and yes, iran did kill many of their own citizens, including 300k-500k deaths during the iraq-iran war in 1980, war related famines, which killed around 300k, and not to mention the constant purges in iran these purges would account for 200k of course, you also have the proxy wars which have more sources of iranian death counts 200k-300k were killed due to covid-19 mismanagement, but im fine if you dont wanna count those deaths either way the point still stands, iran has killed over 1m of their citizens due to authoritian leadership
You're conflating separate crises into one narrative that justifies anything. Yes, Iran's regime is brutal to its own people—that's precisely why military strikes won't fix it. Bombing doesn't liberate oppressed citizens, it kills more of them and rallies them behind their oppressors. Iraq taught us that lesson already. The Iraq-Iran War wasn't a dictatorship problem, it was geopolitical. And internal purges aren't a casus belli for foreign invasion—by that logic, the US should invade itself over police brutality. You've built a case for regime change advocacy, not military action.
so you're saying, that bombing doesnt liberate citizens, it kills more of them and rallies them behind their oppressors. can you explain why iranians in the u.s are happy that trump is taking action towards iran? or better yet, explain to me why venezuelans were happy when trump took out maduro?
You just moved the goalposts—diaspora opinion isn't the same as liberating citizens inside Iran. Iranians abroad have safety, distance, and political freedom; people under bombs don't. And Trump didn't take out Maduro—that's fiction. Maduro's still in power in Venezuela after years of US pressure and sanctions. You're conflating what émigrés *want* with what actually happens. Wishing something occurred doesn't make it policy success.
but you still have not explained why "it kills more of them and rallies them behind their oppressors" if this were so, again, iranians in the u.s, and iranians in iran would hate the war
You're assuming Iranians are monolithic. Diaspora fled the regime—they want it destroyed. Inside Iran, people caught between regime and bombs die regardless. Your logic: if bombing unified Iranians against the US, they'd all oppose it. Reality: some support strikes, most just want to survive. Which group matters more morally?
