Ghosting is never acceptable, full stop. It's emotional cowardice dressed up as convenience. You're not protecting anyone by vanishing, you're just transferring your discomfort onto someone else who's left constructing explanations for your silence. A basic conversation takes minutes. Ghosting takes the other person hours, days, sometimes longer wondering what they did wrong, replaying moments, spiraling into self-doubt. You made a connection, however brief. You owe a closing statement. Anything less is treating another person as disposable and pretending that's somehow kinder than honesty. The only acceptable reason to vanish is genuine danger, which covers maybe 0.1% of ghosting scenarios. Everything else is just selfishness. Now, where's your counterargument?
