For starters, the way a human colony would live on Mars would have a completely different lifestyle than what we have here on Earth. With less favorable placement throughout the solar system and more minimal resource variety, living on Mars isn't a new chapter that we as humans are ready to start, especially considering that we've never even sent anyone to the Moon for more than 2 weeks. Not to mention that we have our own variety of common yet unfavorable problems here on Earth, such as poverty, diseases and epidemics, rising debt, and ongoing political tension. Why should we introduce that lifestyle to a new planet that could have so much potential of becoming something good for society?
