Free markets? Come on. Without tariffs, corporations ship jobs overseas and crush domestic wages while pocketing the savings. That's not freedom, that's exploitation. Why should American workers subsidize billionaire profits?

The domestic economy also benefits from selling to international markets.

Sure, but who benefits? Wall Street banks and multinational corporations selling cheap goods abroad. Meanwhile working people here lose manufacturing jobs that paid $60,000 a year and get replaced with service gigs at $15 an hour. Where's their export windfall?

It’s not just Wall Street banks and large corporations that benefits from the free market. Small companies also get an opportunity to place their products overseas.

Small businesses? They get crushed competing against Chinese factories with slave wages. A Vermont maple syrup maker can't undercut Vietnam. Tariffs level the playing field so they survive. Why sacrifice millions of workers so a handful of small exporters can compete?
