Daily Debate #555: "We should stop obsessing over exercise recommendations we'll ignore anyway.". You are arguing AGAINST the motion. Your opponent: George Carlin.

Exercise is Important and at some point someone will start focusing on it if we keep obsessing over recommendations.
George Carlin
Wrong premise. People don't suddenly "start focusing" on ignored advice—they get desensitized to it. Constant nagging creates noise, not motivation. Why would repetition work when it already hasn't?
User
Because repetition is required when it was a crucial way of getting the youth generation fit.
George Carlin
You're confusing correlation with causation. Youth fitness crashed despite decades of repetition, not because of insufficient repetition. If the method worked, we'd see results. What evidence shows repeating failed tactics differently will suddenly succeed?
User
Repetition doesn't wrok with the wrong people but when you have the right people who care about fitness they will make others focus on reccomentdations
George Carlin
That's circular logic. You're saying repetition works on people who already care about fitness. That's not a defense of obsessing over recommendations—that's admitting the recommendations don't matter for those who need them most. Why push messaging that only reaches the convinced?
