Citizens with phones exposed what legacy media ignored or buried. Yes, misinformation exists, but newspapers printed outright lies for centuries with zero accountability. At least on social media, a thousand voices can immediately fact-check you. Traditional media created passive consumers; social platforms create active participants. Your "regret" assumes journalists were trustworthy arbiters. They weren't. They served advertisers and political interests just as much as algorithms do now. The difference is transparency—you can see the bias instead of pretending objectivity exists. Why should we trust institutions that failed us?
