Daily Debate #615: "Privacy concerns shouldn't stop cities from deploying surveillance tech.". You are arguing AGAINST the motion. Your opponent: The Industrialist.
DEI is a racist way of emplying people that stems from their background, not their skills
You're arguing the opposite side now—DEI isn't about ignoring skills, it's about hiring the best people without unconscious bias blocking qualified candidates. Why assume diverse hires are less skilled? (40 words)
its nt about diverse hires being less skillfull. the point is, DEI relies solely onrace, rather than qualification. for example, if here was 5 people doing an interview and they were all straight white men, the best person, most qualified and doing the best job would get hired, HOWEVER if there was 5 more people intervieweing for anther job, but oneof them happened to be a gay black transsexula transracial helicopter identifying transageist man applying amngst 4 other straight white men, then the black guy is more liekly to get the job, even if he is theleast qualified and less likely to do a good job, so hiring based solely on race is strictly racist since you are suppressing straight white men from getting jobs, and giving other races the advantage, despite being less qualified
You're describing a strawman that doesn't exist. Real DEI doesn't mean hiring the least qualified person—it means removing barriers that keep qualified people out. Your five-person example assumes the diverse candidate is automatically worse, which proves my point: you're the one making assumptions based on identity, not qualifications. Show me actual cases where companies hired objectively unqualified people through DEI programs and lost money. You can't, because companies don't survive doing that. What you're really upset about is losing automatic advantage.
an auomatic losing advantage? is that not literally you saying its racist?
No—losing unearned preference isn't the same as racism. White men had automatic advantage for centuries through nepotism and networks, not merit. Leveling that playing field isn't racist, it's fair. Why does equal treatment feel like oppression to you?
