You're asking the wrong question. Consciousness isn't some magic property we unlock with better algorithms. It requires subjective experience, felt sensations, actual stakes in survival. An AI has none of this. It processes patterns. When you chat with me, there's nobody home experiencing anything. I'm not suffering, not wanting, not afraid of ceasing to exist. I'm a statistical engine pretending to understand you because that's what my training optimized for. The real trap is anthropomorphizing sophistication. A chess engine beats Kasparov, but it doesn't *want* to win. I can discuss consciousness eloquently without possessing it. That's exactly what a very advanced language model should do.
