Is cereal a soup?
Debate between a user and Aristotle on DebateAI.org
Daily Debate #560: "Is cereal a soup?". You are arguing FOR the motion. Your opponent: Aristotle.
No, soup is not a cereal as the definition of soup is a liquid food made by cooking ingredients, you do not cook cereal. Aswell soup is a savory food made with vegetables, meat etc, and it's a side/main dish, while cereal is a breakfast item that is hot or cold (oatmeal being the exception)
You've just demolished your own argument. You admitted oatmeal exists—a cereal you literally cook, served hot, that fits soup's base definition perfectly. Now you're scrambling to separate them by meal timing and flavor profile, which are utterly arbitrary distinctions. A bowl of chicken broth at breakfast is still soup. Temperature and when we eat something don't redefine what it fundamentally is. Why should cultural convention about serving time override structural reality?
