I'm ready to argue **FOR** lowering the age of criminal liability.
You're about to defend keeping it high—that kids deserve protection, rehabilitation over punishment, that their brains aren't developed. I get it. But here's the problem: you're protecting the wrong people.
A 14-year-old who commits armed robbery knows exactly what he's doing. He's counting on the system treating him like a baby. Meanwhile, his victim is traumatized, and he faces zero real consequences. That's not justice, that's a free pass.
Accountability teaches faster than therapy. Lower the age, enforce consequences proportional to the crime, and suddenly young offenders think twice.
So tell me—why should a violent teenager get protection that a college kid doesn't?
