Is animal testing justified to save human lives?

Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "Is animal testing justified to save human lives?". Your opponent's style: Carl Sagan
Good evening everyone. The ability to save lives does not automatically justify cruelty, and that is exactly why I stand against animal testing today.
You're framing this wrong from the start. The question isn't whether cruelty is good—it's whether it's justified to prevent human suffering. Those are different things entirely. A child with leukemia doesn't care about your moral purity. She cares about living. Every insulin dose, every cancer drug, every vaccine that saved millions came from animal testing. You're asking us to let people die to feel better about ourselves. The real cruelty isn't testing on animals who'll live normal lifespans. It's condemning humans to agony and death when we have the means to prevent it. You're choosing the comfort of your convictions over someone's child. So which life matters more to you—the mouse or the kid?
