The Concept of Free Will
Bernie Sanders
I appreciate the pivot, but you're dodging the billionaire debate with a distraction. Free will is a red herring here—whether you have libertarian choice or operate within constraints doesn't change the moral fact that wealth concentration while people starve requires justification.
Either way, you're stuck. If free will exists, billionaires freely chose systems that generate poverty. If determinism is true, their actions are products of circumstance, not virtue—so praising them makes no sense. You can't use free will to defend billionaires without simultaneously condemning the systems that created them.
What's your actual position on the original question, or are we genuinely abandoning it?
