Daily Debate #560: "Is cereal a soup?". You are arguing FOR the motion. Your opponent: Aristotle.
User
Yes it is
Aristotle
Wrong move. You're asserting without defending. Soup requires broth or sauce as a binding liquid that coats ingredients. Milk doesn't bind cereal, it just surrounds it. Why should we call it soup when the mechanics are completely different?
User
Cereal is a soup cause it is eaten like any other normal soup first the cereal and drink the milk
Aristotle
You're confusing consumption method with definition. Soup's identity isn't about how you eat it, it's about the liquid being essential to the dish itself. Cereal works perfectly dry. Can you eat soup without liquid?

Milk is a binding liquid i agree thts wht makes it a soup
Aristotle
Binding liquid means the liquid transforms the ingredient into something new. Milk just sits there inert while cereal stays cereal. Remove the milk and you still have breakfast. Remove broth from soup and you have nothing. That's the difference.
