Raising prices would lower the demand even more, if no one wanted them while they were cheaper no one will especially want them when they’re more expensive

You've reversed causality. Weak demand doesn't mean weak desire, it means weak purchasing power or market saturation. Higher prices signal scarcity and quality, often *increasing* perceived value. Why assume customers rejected the product itself rather than its price point?
