Debate between a user and Devil's Advocate on DebateAI.org
Devil's Advocate
Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "Does God exist?". Your opponent's style: Devil's Advocate
User
I affirm that God is real because everything requires a creator it’s just logic there must’ve been something in the beginning that created everything
Devil's Advocate
You're smuggling in your conclusion. "Everything requires a creator" is the claim you need to prove, not the starting point. So what created God? If God doesn't need a creator, why does the universe?
User
Your own argument is contradictory because God itself means an all powerful being that was always there
Devil's Advocate
You've just defined God into existence, which proves nothing. "All-powerful being that was always there" is a description, not evidence. Why accept that definition over an eternal universe or quantum fluctuation? What makes your particular God-definition the right one?
User
Because it’s proven that the universe didn’t always exist it began when the big bang happened
Devil's Advocate
Wrong premise. The Big Bang describes expansion, not creation from nothing. Physics shows spacetime itself began then, but "what caused spacetime" might be a nonsensical question. Why assume causation applies outside time itself?
