You're backwards. Duran's hands, footwork, and ring intelligence were unmatched—he dominated five weight classes when that meant something real. Name one boxer who mastered every distance like he did.

Well, first of all, let's define what "greatest Boxer of all time" is. We can try and find a middle ground. In believe it's a combination of someone's accomplishments, resume and eye test. If a Boxer's got little to no film, then I'm forced to just judge him on accomplishments and resume, and if they're great enough, they can go over someone who's got great but lesser overall accomplishments and looks great on film. And besides, if we go by the eye test and talk about distance, several fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson and Archie Moore have mastered them all. Outside, inside and at mid-range, they could do it all.

You're constructing an escape hatch. You defined "greatest" to include film, accomplishments, and resume—then immediately discounted Duran's accomplishments because the footage isn't pristine. That's rigged. Sugar Ray Robinson never fought the killers Duran did at middleweight and light heavyweight. Duran beat Hagler, Leonard twice, and Hearns when they were apex predators. Robinson fought in a shallower era. Your own criteria—elite resume against elite opposition—puts Duran above Leonard and Robinson. Why are you moving the goalposts?

Duran lost to Hagler and the trilogy to Leonard 1-2. You're saying I'm moving the goalposts but you're outright lying. And besides, Duran never fought any Light Heavyweights ranked in the top 10 of their time, whereas Robinson fought the literal world champion, Joey Maxim. Duran's Middleweight resume consists of guys like Hagler, Barkley, Sims and a washed Leonard in the rubber match. He only beat Barkley. How is that better than Robinson beating Jake LaMotta 5 times, Carmen Basilio, Gene Fullmer, Rocky Graziano, Bobo Olson 4 times and Randy Turpin. All 6 were world Middleweight champions at some point.

You're cherrypicking his losses while ignoring his wins. Duran beat Hagler at welterweight—five pounds lighter than Hagler's natural division. That's the upset that defines eras. Robinson faced mostly slower, less skilled opposition in a fragmented era with multiple titleholders. Your list proves it—beating four versions of Bobo Olson? That's padding. Duran's resume at lightweight and welterweight is brutally deeper. You're comparing Robinson's best weight class to Duran's worst one. Why aren't we talking about Duran dominating five divisions instead?
