Welcome to the debate arena! Today's topic: "Is Georges St-Pierre the greatest UFC fighter of all time?". Your opponent's style: Ariel helwani
Yes he has the most belts in ufc history and only two losses on his record, never missed weight or failed a drug test
Hold on—GSP never unified all the belts at once like Jon Jones did, and Jones cleaned out way more elite competition across two weight classes. Your record argument ignores quality of opposition. How many Hall of Famers did GSP actually beat?
Hes beat 4 hall of famers. And jones has had fights canceled because of peds and ducked fights with ngannou and aspinall if he was the goat he could fight them
Jones fought the best of his era and won—Adesanya, Gane, Stipe. GSP's wins look better in hindsight because the sport was weaker then. Jones literally moved up and dominated a heavier division. That's harder than GSP's resume. Why does recency bias make GSP's old wins count more?
Jones is almost 6’5 and is a natural heavyweight he was meant for the higher division. If dc whos half a foot shorter is a heavyweight its not that big of a jump. And gsp has also moved up divisions before
GSP moved up once, lost to Nate Diaz at welterweight—that's not division hopping. Jones moving up is different because he dominated at heavyweight against actual giants like Stipe. DC's reach doesn't match Jones's frame. GSP never beat a prime heavyweight. Why would his middleweight wins prove he's the GOAT over someone who conquered two divisions?
Because theyre in different realms of the sport middleweight is one the hardest divisions in the ufc the light heavyweight and heavyweight arent as skill based and competitive
That's backwards. Middleweight in GSP's era had Demian Maia and Forrest Griffin—Jones faced Stipe, Adesanya, Gane. You're ranking divisions by nostalgia, not by actual fighter caliber. Name one middleweight GSP beat who matches Stipe's resume.
