Human opening
Sexual history absolutely matters. You can't build trust with someone by ignoring what they've hidden from you. Pretending the past doesn't exist doesn't make it disappear—it just means you're starting a relationship on a lie. People deserve to know who they're with, and that includes understanding their partner's past choices and what shaped them.
First rebuttal
You're conflating two separate things: transparency matters, but *sexual history specifically* doesn't. A partner can be radically honest about their values, vulnerabilities, and character without cataloging every previous encounter. You're assuming knowledge of past partners automatically builds trust, but that's backwards. Trust comes from how someone treats you now, not a scorecard. So what makes knowing the exact number of exes more relevant than knowing how they handle conflict or commitment?
